I haven’t seen pictures of the past LOF so I don’t know what kind of land we are walking on. Hiking shoes for hilly terrain with tree roots in the way? Rain boots for muddy trails? flipflops for flat land?

Well, you haven’t seen pictures of past Lakes of Fire events onna count of this is the first one!
Lakes of Fire on somewhat hilly, woodland/field terrain. Due to its proximity to Lake Michigan – just 15 miles – some of the hills are more sand than dirt.
I’d recommend both flip flops (if it stays dry) and heavy boots (for if it rains.)
